On Fire
No seriously, tonight was on fire!
Tonight our youth group had its first ever bonfire. However, due to the drought it had to be two smaller fires contained to pits. Nevertheless, it was awesome to have the youth group gather together around a fire in the crisp autumn night. I led worship tonight with my guitar as we sang around the campfire. We sung the song, "God of Wonders", under the stars and I thought that was just so awesome! Apart from that, we had an excellent turn out to our Sunday evening youth Bible study--by far our largest.
Not only was it our largest youth meeting but it was also our larget Sunday morning attendance EVER! PRAISE THE LORD! There was a total of 146 people blowing out our projection for about 130 people. That was awesome to see so many people there as well as knowing more people are not only coming to our church but are also finding out about our Savior, Jesus Christ.
Sticking with the fire theme...Recently I have noticed an issue arising with people "growing dim". You see, everyone was "on fire" when the church began. They were ready to face challenges together and hurdle different obstacles that were in our way acting as road blocks. However, with a small church, there are not a lot of volunteers meaning the same ones are recycled and reused week after week. This is causing many people's fire to grow dim and they are not as eager to help. They are not complaining by any stretch, but the amounts of time they put into their service takes away some of the joys of serving. This is a problem that on occasion, I myself am faced with. So if you could be in prayer for all of those volunteering, that they would have the strength to perservere and keep Northwest in full operation thus furthering the Kingdom.
